Monday Mumblings...all things running.

I mumble on Mondays sometimes. It's a thing. You get used to it.

  • I ran 10 miles yesterday. DOUBLE DIGITS y'all!
  • Running in the cold is a very different experience. I am going to have to figure out the right clothes combo to keep my joints just right.
  • I plan on running through the winter this year. I think this will be a feat just like running a half marathon will. Not being from a state that experiences winter each year like Michigan, it will be cool to tell my kids some day that I ran during the winter time.
  • There are two different Turkey Trots in November I'd like to run. One is a 5K on Thanksgiving Day and I'm definitely doing it. The other is a couple of weeks before and includes an "Iron Turkey" race where you run the 5k and the 10k courses. The Iron Turkey is a little over three weeks after the Half and would be my first week back to running after my two week rest period post race. So I'm not sure if I'd be pushing it and should just stick to the 5K or 10K.
  • I also plan on running a holiday run during the month of December.
  • This also reminds me, what are your favorite winter running must haves or go-to's?
Hope this finds you well! Happy Monday!

Long sleeves that go over my hands...no idea why, but it makes me feel better in the winter. :) I LOVE running in the cold, its how I trained last time. I remember my first 5K I literally could not feel my limbs...but my core was SO WARM. It was crazy.

I think if I had to pick running during the winter...or running during the summer...I'd choose the cold anytime!

Then again, I'm no runner, so what do I know! LOL

The cold is so much easier & faster to run! In NC it's almost impossible to find a race May-Aug. Of course, almost every race I've done has been 43 degrees and pouring- but it makes you want to finish faster ;-)

Hi y'all! The name's Samantha. You can call me Sam if you like. I am a lover to a boy I met at Falls Creek in the summer of 2005, that is a student of Jesus, a Sooner born and Sooner bred and when I die I'll be Sooner dead, Democrat by party, blonde to the core, and oldies but goodies kind of girl.
